Pocket Gems is a company that largley focuses on games aimed at casual, mainstream audiences, what with Tap Pet Hotel (Free) and Runway Life (Free). So if you saw their new game War Dragons (Free) and didn’t realize it was Pocket Gems, I wouldn’t be surprised. It’s quite a gritty departure from everything they’ve previously put out. Well, it turns out that they’re looking to really expand their portfolio of games into something more for a core audience. And why not do that by making a PVP multiplayer game where you breed dragons, and then fight with those dragons against other people?
There’s a combat section where your dragon will be flying through an enemy’ encampments, and you deal damage to everything as you fly by. You’ll also be building your own bases, forming guilds to help work with other players, and just trying to be the biggest, baddest, dragon-taming emperor of them all. Pocket Gems has made War Dragons in their new Mantis Engine, and they’re planning on making more games like this with 3D graphics and real-time multiplayer. As an established mobile publisher that hasn’t really touched the Clash of Clans (Free) market that’s become so lucrative, it’ll be interesting to see just what they do going forward with their games.
